Ethernet drivers are needed to power the Ethernet router which connects your computer to the Internet. In any normal circumstance, the driver will be found on the manufacturer's website, and you will be able to download it for free.

Installing the latest Ethernet drivers should result in you being able to use your equipment without any trouble. Any minor faults caused by the obsoleted software should have been corrected. In some cases, you may have a teething problem with the equipment not working the first time you try to use it. This is usually only very temporary, and can be corrected quite simply. If it isn't, the problem is more likely to be with your broadband service than with the router itself. If the router does have problems, they may be in the physical hardware and not in the software.
